Part of my morning ritual is to read my friends’ status updates on Facebook. I enjoy reading about what is important in their lives; the mundane, the serious, the introspective moments that make my friends the unique individuals they are. Some folks update their status very regularly, some hardly at all. And while I am not in personal contact with all of my friends directly, I feel more connected to each of them thanks to the small window they open each time they post a new entry.

We started the new year as we do nearly ever year, with our good friends the Naumans. An evening of fondue, laughter, and high energy with the kiddos is a marvelous way to start 2009, and I look forward to this gathering each New Years Eve.
Today I spent the day at work. We decided to do inventory on the 1st as the store was closed and there would be less interruptions. Unfortunately, our recent software upgrade left us with unusable inventory control tags, so the entire process has to be done manually. So the process, which should take about 2 days, is likely going to take a week or longer.

I’ve heard it said that the true measure of a man, who he really is deep inside, is demonstrated by how he responds to life and situations when things aren’t easy. You know… “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.”
Life for me right now is complicated… and I am not pleased with how I’m responding.
